EIU Baseball Adds 11 Transfers To 2025 Roster - Eastern Illinois University Athletics (2024)

Eastern Illinois baseball has added 11 transfer players to its 2025 roster, including four pitchers and seven position players.

Joining the Panthers this fall are Dalton Boruff, Zach Courson, Tyler Kapraun, Nate Marshall, Owen Anderson, Pierce Baurerle, Zak Goodwin, Colin Horneman, Ethan Rossi, Brett Stanley, and Peyton Wilson.

Dalton Boruff (RHP, 5-10, 180 lbs.)
Dalton Boruff arrives at EIU by way of Kaskaskia College, where he spent the 2024 season after beginning his collegiate career at Lindenwood. Boruff started 12 games for the Blue Devils last season, posting a record of 9-4 with one save and two shutouts. The Breese Central productled the Great Rivers Athletic Conference with a 1.71 ERA while recording a WHIP of 1.08. He posted 95 strikeouts through 84.0 innings pitched for an average of 10.18 strikeouts per nine innings.

Zach Courson (RHP, 6-2, 180 lbs.)
Mohomet native Zach Courson joins the Panthers following two seasons at Bradley. Courson made 12 relief appearances for the Braves a season ago, posting a record of 1-0. He posted 10 strikeouts through 16.2 innings pitched. He also made five relief appearances as a freshman during the 2023 campaign.

Tyler Kapraun (LHP, 6-3, 205 lbs.)
Tyler Kapraun joins the EIU program as a graduate transfer from Western Illinois. He started 25 games for the Leathernecks over two seasons, posting a record of 7-9 with an ERA of 6.25. In 2024, the Peoria native finished with a record of 4-4 while striking out 66 batters through 78.0 innings pitched.

Nate Marshall (RHP, 6-3, 185 lbs.)
A native of Albany, Oregon, Nate Marshall spent the last two seasons at Lane Community College, where he started a total of 15 games and posted a record of 13-3. Last season, Marshall made 14 total appearances with 10 starts, finishing the campaign 9-1 with a 2.05 ERA. He struck out 52 batters through 74.2 innings for a K/9 ratio of 6.27.

Owen Anderson (C, 5-11, 185 lbs.)
Catcher Owen Anderson joins the Panthers after spending his freshman season at Lake Land Community College. The Chicago native appeared in 47 games for the Lakers, recording a .350 batting average with a .436 on base percentage. He posted seven doubles and one home run with 21 RBI and 35 runs scored. Behind the plate, he caught 13 runners stealing with a near perfect .995 fielding percentage.

Pierce Bauerle (INF, 6-2, 215 lbs.)
Hailing from Waynesville, Ohio, Pierce Bauerle makes his way to Charleston from Frontier Community College. As a freshman for the Bobcats, he appeared in 15 games. In 47 plate appearances, Bauerle posted a batting average of .421, on-base percentage of .532, and slugging percentage of .711. He recorded three doubles, one triple, and two homers while driving in 13 runs. He also recorded a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.

Zak Goodwin (C, 5-10, 170 lbs.)
Zak Goodwin joins the Panthers after spending last season at Iowa Central Community College. He appeared in 36 games for the Tritons, posting a batting average of .327 with an on-base percentage of .477. The Roseville, Minnesota nativescored 41 runs while recording five doubles, two triples, three home runs, and 17 RBI. Behind the plate, Goodwin caught nine runners stealing with a fielding percentage of .993.

Colin Horneman (C, 6-0, 175 lbs.)
St. Johns, Indiana native Colin Horneman spent his freshman season at Lincoln Trail Community College. He appeared in 29 games last season, recording a batting average of .316 and on-base percentage of .465. He scored 22 runs with 18 RBI, while also adding eight stolen bases. He caught 10 runners stealing with a caught stealing percentage of .455. He finished the season with a .995 fielding percentage.

Ethan Rossi (OF)
Outfielder Ethan Rossi makes his way to Eastern after spending his freshman season at Northern Oklahoma – Tonkawa. The Mount Prospect, Illinois native played in 60 games for the Mavericks last season, batting .357 and slugging .531. He posted 19 doubles, five home runs, 65 RBI, and 66 runs scored. He also added six stolen bases and recorded a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.

Brett Stanley (INF, 5-8, 185 lbs.)
Brett Stanley comes to EIU after spending the 2024 season at Youngstown State. The Washington Township, Michigan native made 53 starts in 55 total appearances for the Penguins, including 40 starts at third base and 13 at second base. He posted a batting average of .278 while recording nine doubles, two triples, three home runs, and 35 RBI. Prior to Youngstown State, Stanley played in 100 games over two seasons at Kellogg Community College.

Peyton Wilson (INF, 5-7, 173 lbs.)
Peyton Wilson joins the Panthers following one season at Francis Marion University. The American Fork, Utah native made 45 starts for the Patriots last season, batting .313 with an OPS of .842. He posted 11 doubles and four homers while driving in 33 runs and scoring 33 runs. Prior to his time at Francis Marion, Wilson spent two seasons at Colorado Northwestern Community College.
