|Title||Loch Brora and Killin Rock|
|Start Grid Ref||NC 872 047|
|Distance||8.5 miles (14 km)|
|Ascent||900 ft (275 m)|
|Parking: turn left immediately after the bridge in Brora. After about 3km, once well clear of the village, you will pass a road joining from the right. 200 meters further on, there is a substantial layby on the right which will accommodate a number of cars (Avoid the tempting widened areas of road: these exist to accommodate windfarm construction traffic). Alternatively follow the side-road opposite; there is limited parking near the end of this road for a couple of cars. We follow a path upstream along the river, then join the quiet road along the lochside. From Oldtown, we follow a hill path slanting south-east up the hillside. A 0.5 kilometer stretch of rough, wet ground leads on to the bottom of Killin rock (much more impressive than you might expect from the height); the going gets easier as we approach the top, where the views are spectacular. A rough track leads us back to the road and the parking place.|
