|Title||Eag a’ Chait & Loch Morlich|
|Start Grid Ref||NH 956 097|
|Distance||8 miles (13 km)|
|Ascent||1015 ft (310 m)|
|Park in the layby on the road to Glenmore at the Bailey Bridge at the western end of Loch Morlich (signposted Rothiemurchus Lodge). Cross the bridge and follow the jeep track to Rothiemurchus Lodge. After passing through the complex, head E then ESE on a path that climbs to the gap between Airgiod-Meal &: Castle Hill (sometimes very boggy, always steep). At the top, pass through the narrow, boulder-strewn ravine of Eag a' Chait (sometimes very windy, always tricky underfoot) to emerge to terrific views of the Cairngorm summits. Swing N into the reindeer enclosure, past Lochan Dubh a' Chadha and then begin a gradual descent to Loch Morlich past Utsi's Hut. The path follows Allt Rabhaig at first and then drops to join the sandy track around Loch Morlich. Follow this W along the S shore of the loch back to the start point. The walk's classed as B grade as if wet underfoot and/or windy the middle section can be taxing. Marvellous views for much of the route.|
